Word Collection Paintings

My word collection is an evolving collection that I draw on within my practice.  These words are typed and kept in an old milk of magnesia bottle, poured into a sieve and the first one sifted I use as a starting point for this series of works.

I simply begin with the word and allow the work to flow with the word in mind.  Neurologically, when we are about to say a word, particular neurons fire in the brain, which there is now technology to recognise words from brain imaging to an accuracy of 75%.

I began painting using the starting point of words with an arbitrary collection of over 200 words and painted on pocket sized canvas' made of calico to work at that small scale.  The size of the works above are informed by the size of the largest book I own.

Do get in touch with me to find out about owning or showing these paintings.
